but built the same way: through deconstruction and distortion, layer upon
layer, until the image asserts itself. Close up, paint that is present and
unapologetic: impasto, broad gesture, the mark of a decision made and left. Step
back, and a figure emerges. Always on the edge of becoming, never fully arrived
at.
